WHAT WE BELIEVE

Our mission is to promote music and musical education across communities in the Philadelphia area. We believe that every person should be exposed to and have the opportunity to pursue music.

Musiscola is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit started in 2020 by Christopher Li. Through the development of online resources and musical programming with educational sessions, with a focus on underserved communities in Philadelphia, the organization has reached hundreds of children through interactive presentations and videos which have garnered thousands of views online.

In the past, we have organized and produced a virtual Holiday Performance of Musiscola community members sharing their talents through holiday music to ease isolation and bring joy and comfort to retirement homes, assisted living facilities, schools, and families during the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, we have developed and provided a dynamic, diverse ‘Introduction to Musical Instruments’ for multiple elementary schools: Face to Face Germantown, Wissahickon Charter School, Anna L. Lingelbach School, among others.

THE POWER OF MUSIC

Through many studies, music is shown to have numerous mental health benefits, reducing stress, pain, and anxiety. Research also suggests that music has the ability to help memory recall for patients with cognitive disorders. Music is a very powerful tool, that can be used to improve the lives of many people. At Musiscola, we seek to promote musical education, so everybody can experience the full benefits of the power of music.
